Instructions:
Clear up any words the person does not understand, at once, if it is apparent that the question is not communicating well.
Once you have an "item" (word or phrase that best fits the individual) start with set 0 or set 1 above (these two can be blended together after you have run Question 0 for a few answers) and run the process of asking the question, getting an answer, and giving an acknowledgement, until the person has either run out of answers or has had a realization.
Note - at first let the person give more than one answer, until it feels right to switch to the opposing question. Then go to the other question of the set for a few of that side of it, then you can go back and forth, one to the other this way until the person has had a realization, a good win, or runs out of answers for both questions but feels satisfied the process is complete.
If the person does not have a realization but runs out of answers and appears to be satisfied, go on to the next set. If the person does not have a realization and runs out of answers or goes "dull" during the process or is not satisfied the process did anything, check the Rudiments (for Upset or Communication break, for Present Time worry or Problem, or for Harmful Act or Wrongful Action or inaction) and check the process again for understanding. Resume the process until the person feels satisfied it is complete, and then go on to the next set.
Do the same when you get to the Recalls section. Look for a "release" (the person cheering up or announcing a realization) and acknowledge that release well before ending the process to go on to the next set.

How to Find an Item to Run - How to Personalize an Item Exactly for You
Start with the first category. You will find the most common and most recommended items first. After giving each one careful consideration, skip the ones you are not ready for or that do not apply to you. If it seems applicable but the wording is not quite right, make it your own by wording it the way you use it. For co-auditing this material, the questions would be:
What Might Be Your Own Version of ___(subject, word or computation given)___?

Master List of Commonly Held Mental Mechanisms -
Self-Serving Computations - Fixed Ideas - Harmful Intentions - Unwanted Attitudes:
A. The following are key questions. The first step is to get a journal page, write down the question, and then jot down any answers that come up. If you have a partner, these questions are asked one at a time in a procedure known as "Two-Way Communication" (patiently getting the person to talk about what might be there, without any pressure to arrive at a final answer, writing down the items the person says in the exact words they were stated, or as the person clarifies his/her statement down to the exact wording). Do not persist if the person has no answers at this time. After a list of possible items has been made, get the person to choose the one of greatest interest. After that first item has been run completely through all the above processes, take up any remaining items and, for each one, ask if the person is interested in running it. If so, run this next one through the full procedure above.
After you have worked on the first question, see if any of the remaining questions have answers, and make sure the person is really interested in running an item before taking it up. Again, after that first item has been run completely through all the above processes, go over any remaining items on the list and, for each one, ask if the person is interested in running it. If so, run that next one through the full procedure above.

B. Most Common and Most Important Mental Mechanisms
(subject to being updated)
Take up each item on the following list, one at a time. Clarify what it means to you (use a good dictionary to clear up the meanings of words). Look to see if it applies to you, or there is a version of it that you use. Put it into your own words and unless you do not find anything or are disinterested in it, use your own wording of it as an item in the brackets (BRAX) above.
Important Note: These are run as "fixed solutions" (in other words, do you say this or use this one a little too much?). Of course, some of these will make sense or be truly useful or true statements in certain situations and at certain times. What we want to uproot are strong habits that, being overly used, begin to distort ones thinking. Say it to yourself with a growl. Do you use any of these in situations of upset or overwhelm?
The key question to ask here is, "Do You Use This to Avoid Confronting?"
-and don't forget, as given above, to make it your own, asking-
"What Might Be Your Own Version of ---?"
Anyone can run the first few given, just as they are. Go ahead, try them out. They are practically universal.

C. FreeScientology Level IV is where you confront your own evil. But even if you're into nothing of the kind, you want to explore each of these goals/intentions carefully because they operate around you in the world. You may be surprised at what comes up (some say we have lived before). Run each one of these carefully and thoroughly, in each one of the brackets (BRAX) including the optional ones. Clear each word thoroughly in a good dictionary, before starting the process, or any time you feel you should consult the definitions again.
This is taken from Dennis Stephens (founding Dianeticist) from his work on The Resolution of the Mind ("TROM").
Non-Life Goals:

"TO DESTROY"
"TO BLAME"
"TO ENSLAVE"
"TO HATE"
"TO DRUG"
"TO TRAP"
"TO LIE"

"TO STEAL"

"TO DEGRADE"
"TO DESTROY"
"TO BLAME"
"TO ENSLAVE"
"TO HATE"
"TO DRUG"
"TO TRAP"
"TO LIE"
"TO CHEAT"
"TO STEAL"
